A two-fold paper screen painted in ink and colour on a gold ground with a black lacquer shodana (display cabinet) with shelves and a cupboard with a pair of fusuma painted with a Chinese-style landscape in sumi (ink).

The right hand panel shows a young male resting on a Chinese-style red and gold lacquer box, To the side of him is a bronze flower vessel with elephant head handles containing an ikebana arrangement of kuri (Japanese chestnut).

Japan, 17th century, Kan'ei era (1624-1649).
